What kind of church is All Nations?

Great question. We get it a lot. There are a hundred ways to begin to answer this, i.e., theologically, denominationally, our vision, our core values, etc. We'd encourage you to look at that information on other pages on this website. But let me give you a few additional thoughts...

1 . ANCO is an interdenominational church, which means we welcome people from all church backgrounds and those with no church background. ANC has a very diverse congregation in this regard which we actually like. The diversity in the body of Christ is a good thing as we see it. We hold to the core doctrines of orthodox Christianity, but understand that forms and styles can differ.

2. ANCO is a "Word and Power Church" to use the title of a good book, written by Doug Banister, pastor of Fellowship Church in Knoxville, TN. This means that all we do and teach must be grounded in God's Word. The Bible is a "lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path." We also fully embrace the Holy Spirit and His work in the world today. We believe He indwells and fills, and brings His fruit and gifts into willing hearts. His manifest presence is a great gift and we want to be a group of people where He is free to manifest Himself often when we gather. We embrace both the Word of God and the Spirit of God.

3. ANCO is a church that is on a mission...from God. Our mission includes being the hands, feet, eye, ears and voice of Jesus in this hurting world. We desire to see those outside of God's family brought in through repentance and saving faith, then come to know God's purpose for them and their place in His Kingdom, being filled with His Spirit and empowered for all that He wants them to accomplish for His glory. We want to see life transforming churches planted domestically and internationally and His Kingdom spread to every tribe, tongue, people group and nation.

Why did you pick the name, All Nations Church?

Another good question. Did you know that the terms "nations," "families," "peoples," etc., referring to the ethnic people groups of the world occurs over 1,000 times in scripture? We believe that we should begin with the end in mind, and the end is...all nations around God's throne worshipping Him. Psalm 67:2 "...may your ways be known upon the earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples (ethnic groups) praise you oh God. Let all the peoples praise you. Let all nations be glad and sing for joy..." Our name reminds us of the great and final picture in Revelation 5:9, 10 and 7:9-12.

Is your church only interested in missions?

We see the Kingdom of God as an international, global Kingdom. We see God as an international God so to speak. He loves the business person working in the city of Omaha, just as much as the mountain farmer in Bolivia. He cares for the city employee working for Omaha, just as much as the merchant selling chai in a bazaar in Central Asia. So the answer to the question above is no. We are interested in seeing His kingdom spread everywhere and anywhere that people live on this planet whether in the Midwest, on vacation in Mexico, or anywhere in the world He leads us.

We do give 25% of what we receive in our offerings to International Kingdom expansion work (missions, if you would), but we're just as serious about being lights right here in the Omaha area. A man once said, "The light that shines the farthest, shines the brightest at home." There's great truth in that saying. God has called us to be witnesses wherever we are, whether in the midwest, on vacation in California or Florida, and/or overseas as He leads us.

What do you believe one must do to enter God's Kingdom? What are the essentials of the gospel and New Testament Salvation?

We understand that there are three essential components to this. First, conviction must come into a person's heart over their sin. Conviction is a deep, inner spiritual discomfort and guilt, caused by the Holy Sprit to show a person his sin and emptiness. Conviction is produced as a person sees their life against the backdrop of God's holiness and His law, the 10 commandments. "Through the law (the 10 commandments), comes the full, intense knowledge of sin (conviction)." Romans 3:20.

When enough conviction is felt, it leads you to repentance which is a deep change of mind and heart which leads you to forsake your sins and the right to run your life apart from God. Repentance is a spiritual U-turn, or, You-turn. You turn 180 degrees, from your sinful life to Jesus, accepting His shed blood on the cross and His death as that which cleanses you from sin. Repentance is where you get off the throne of your life so that He can take His rightful place there. There is no salvation apart from repentance for Jesus Himself said, "Unless you repent, you will likewise perish." Luke 13:3.

Repentance is a breath and a prayer away from saving faith, which is the third component. Saving faith and repentance are like two side of the same coin. When you turn from your sins in repentance, abandoning the "throne" of your life, you then submit to Jesus as He comes to take His rightful place there on the throne. Saving faith is the total commitment of all you are and have to the total rule of the Lord Jesus Christ. He now has the right to ask you to make any changes in your life at any time. All changes will be for your good and His glory. Acts 20:21 "...testifying to both Greeks and Jews of repentance to God and of faith in our Lord Jesus."

So, conviction, repentance and saving faith are essential, biblical components for salvation and entering into the abundant life that Jesus offers to all.
